We have a plan for the garden

WE have a restoration plan (described by the Nantwich Guardian as "ambitious") to turn the land into a community garden catering for everyone - including young and elderly, the disabled, and people with learning difficulties.

Schools and colleges would be encouraged to get involved in the design and reconstruction of the garden to build a feeling of common ownership, and specialised technical expertise from gardening societies and professionals would be sought.

The garden would be restored in four phases over four or five years.

The Walled Garden Society hopes to cover the basic recreation cost of £140,000 through sponsorship and by seeking a Heritage Lottery grant.

Our Chairman comments: "This could be a beautiful community asset for everyone in Nantwich to enjoy. People come to Nantwich for its heritage and we shouldn't just allow this to disappear for yet more housing."
